Mother Nature's Call

The rain, it came tumbling down. Not gently, but fiercely.
We never expected a torrential downpour such as this.
So rapidly the dams did fill. So quickly people lost their homes.
Devastation was caused all over our humble country.
Families had to flee the place they once called home.
Panic and worry. Heartbreak and hurt. All caused by the tears from above.
Now we cry. Mother nature played her game. We were never prepared to lose.
The skies have dried but our land has not. The aftermath remains.
A cleanup begins with all hands on deck. Our community works together.
We delve deep into compassion. Differences aside to get the job done.
History began the day the skies opened and didn't close for what seemed like a lifetime.
An event such as this can only make us stronger and bring us closer.
From here we can only remain strong. We need to in order to survive.
Lives have been lost, as have years of hard work with nothing left to show.
Houses camouflage with the water, just like wearing an invisibility cloak.
The damage seems almost irreparable. Together we fall but united we must stand.
